The Department of Urdu at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies recently hosted a dinner in honor of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Learning, University of the Punjab, Lahore. During his visit to Tokyo, Dr. Kamran was felicitated for his outstanding contributions to the promotion of Urdu globally.
Prof. Mamiya-komaki Kensaku, Head of the Department of Urdu, praised Dr. Kamran's efforts in advancing Urdu language and literature worldwide. The event was attended by faculty members and students of the Urdu department, with Prof. Dr. So Yamane of Osaka University also in attendance.
Dr. Kamran presented shields to Prof. Mamiya and Prof. Toriya in recognition of their dedication to promoting Urdu in Japan. The gathering also discussed potential collaboration roadmaps, including research initiatives and student exchange programs.
